President James Madison Dollar Coins

As the fourth installment in the new Presidential Dollar Coin Series, James Madison Dollars will be released in November of 2007. These $1 coins are being struck in accordance with the Presidential Coin Act of 2005, which requires the United States Mint to create the coins in recognition of the Presidents of the United States in the order in which they served in office. Madison was born in Port Conway, Virginia in the year 1751 . He served his country as a delegate to the Continental Congress, a member of the House of Representatives and as Secretary of State. He served as President of the United States from 1809 through 1817.
