March 16, 1751 - James Madison born to Colonel James Madison, Sr. and Eleanor Conway Madison, in Port Conway, Virginia. 1769 to 1771 - Madison attends the College of New Jersey. 1776 to 1779 - Madison serves in the Virginia legislature. 1780 to 1783 - Serves as a delegate to the Continental Congress. 1787 - Attends Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. 1789 to 1797 - Serves in the United States House of Representatives. September 14, 1794 - Madison marries Dolley Payne Todd 1809–1817 - Madison serves as fourth President of the UNited States. June 28, 1836 - James Madison dies at his home in Montpellier.
